Family Law: France & the U.S.: Same Life, Different Laws
Practical Tips for Getting Your Legal Affairs in Order

Join U.S. and French attorneys for a practical and engaging look at the legal differences that can affect everyday life on both sides of the Atlantic. Through the story of a French-American couple living in Chicago, our presenters will explore important issues the couple should consider if they remain in the U.S. – and how those same issues may look very different if they decide to move to France.
Meet the speakers:
- Marianne Marquina-Pelissier - Trium Avocats - has been a lawyer for more than 12 years. Based in TOULOUSE, her practice focuses primarily on family law and personal injury law. Through her experience, she has handled matters involving French expatriates- particularly those residing in the United States - helping them structure and protect their family and asset interests across borders. She also provides legal defense in international divorces, separations, or even inheritance cases. As an English speaker, she collaborates closely with local attorneys to ensure her clients' interests are effectively safeguarded on both continents.
- Bryan V. Reed - Reed Centracchio - is a Chicago-based attorney with more than thirty-three years of experience representing clients in complex family law and cross-border matters. He regularly advises clients whose families, assets, and legal interests span multiple countries. Fluent in French, Mr. Reed maintains close professional relationships with attorneys in France and frequently works with foreign counsel on matters involving the intersection of U.S. and European law. Licensed in Illinois and Michigan, he brings a practical and strategic approach to helping clients navigate the often-unexpected differences between legal systems.
Marianne Marquina-Pellissier will be available for short 1:1 sessions following the Q&A.
